1. About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how HireJuno Pty Ltd ("HireJuno", "we", "us") — an Australian company based in Melbourne, Victoria — handles your personal information when you use hirejuno.com, the HireJuno app, or book any of our services.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). "Personal information" means information about you as an identifiable individual — your name, contact details, address, booking history and so on.
This policy covers customers, people who browse our site or use our app, and people who contact our support team. Professionals who apply to work with HireJuno are given a separate privacy notice during onboarding.
2. What we collect
We collect the minimum we need to deliver a great service. Depending on how you use HireJuno, that includes:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Identity & contact | Name, email address, phone number, account password (stored hashed — we can't read it). |
| Property & booking | Service address, property details you enter (bedrooms, bathrooms, rooms, approximate areas), access notes (for example a lockbox code), chosen services, options, add-ons, dates and booking history. |
| Payment metadata | Payment method type, card brand and last four digits, transaction amounts, refund history, Juno Credits and gift card balances. Never your full card number — see section 7. |
| Communications | Messages with our support team and your assigned professional, phone call records, reviews and ratings you leave, and photos you share with us (for example for a guarantee or damage claim). |
| Device & usage | IP address, device and browser type, pages visited, referral source (for example which ad brought you to us), and app diagnostics. |
| Preferences | Marketing opt-ins and opt-outs, notification settings, and referral activity. |
We don't ask for, and please don't send us, sensitive information (such as health or religious information) unless it's genuinely relevant to a booking — for example, letting us know a household member has allergies so we use particular products. Where you do share it, we use it only for that purpose.
Our services are for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
3. How we collect it
- Directly from you — when you book, create an account, download the app, contact support, leave a review, or enter a promotion.
- Automatically — through cookies and similar technologies when you use our site and app (see section 9).
- From our professionals — job updates, completion photos of the work areas, and notes about the service performed at your property.
- From third parties — payment confirmation from our payment processor, delivery status from our SMS and email providers, and campaign data from advertising platforms (in aggregate).
- From someone who books for you — if a family member, landlord or agent books a service at your property, we collect the details they provide about the property and its access. They're responsible for having your OK to share those details.
Where it's practical, you can deal with us anonymously — for example, browsing the site or asking a general question. Booking a service isn't one of those cases: we can't send a professional to an unnamed address.
4. Why we use your information
We use your personal information to:
- Deliver your bookings — confirm the job, assign the right professional, share the details they need, power live tracking and ETA updates, and send booking-stage notifications.
- Take and manage payments — process upfront payment, handle approved variations, apply credits and gift cards, and issue refunds.
- Support you — respond to questions, run our Satisfaction and Bond Back Guarantees, and investigate damage claims fairly.
- Keep the platform safe — verify accounts, detect fraud and referral abuse, and protect our customers and professionals.
- Improve HireJuno — understand which services, suburbs and features people use so we can make the product better. Wherever possible we use aggregated or de-identified data for this.
- Market to you, with consent — send offers, seasonal reminders and credit updates if you've opted in (see section 8).
- Meet legal obligations — tax and accounting record-keeping, responding to lawful requests, and establishing or defending legal claims.
We do not sell your personal information. Ever.
7. Payment information — held by our processor, not by us
When you pay, your card or wallet details are captured directly by our PCI DSS-compliant payment processor over an encrypted connection. Your full card number, CVC and wallet credentials go to the processor — they are never transmitted to, stored on, or visible to HireJuno's servers or staff.
What we keep is the minimum needed to manage your bookings:
- A secure payment token that lets the processor charge approved amounts (like an in-app variation you accept);
- The card brand and last four digits, so you can recognise which card you used;
- Transaction records — amounts, dates, refunds and receipts — which we must keep for tax and accounting law.
Buy-now-pay-later providers (such as Afterpay or Zip) and PayPal act as their own data controllers for the details you give them — their privacy policies apply to those details.
8. Marketing and your choices
We'd love to tell you about offers, seasonal services and your Juno Credits — but only if you want to hear from us.
- Consent first. We send marketing emails, SMS and push notifications in line with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) — based on your consent or an existing customer relationship, always with a working unsubscribe.
- Opt out anytime. Use the unsubscribe link in any email, reply STOP to any marketing SMS, toggle push notifications in the app or your device settings, or just ask us. Opt-outs are actioned within 5 business days.
- Service messages still arrive. Opting out of marketing doesn't stop essential booking messages — confirmations, arrival updates, guarantee follow-ups and receipts. Those are part of delivering the service you booked.
- Advertising measurement. We advertise on platforms like Google and Meta. We may use cookies or hashed identifiers to measure whether our ads work and to avoid showing you irrelevant ads. You can limit this via the cookie controls below and your platform ad settings.
10. How we store and protect your information
We take reasonable steps — technical and organisational — to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure:
- Encryption in transit (TLS) across the site, app and internal services, and encryption at rest for stored data;
- Access controls — staff and systems can only access the data their role requires, and access is logged;
- Passwords stored using strong one-way hashing;
- Vetting and confidentiality obligations for staff and professionals;
- Regular review of our security posture and our providers'.
No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
11. Overseas disclosure
We're an Australian business and we prefer Australian-hosted infrastructure. Some of our service providers — for example cloud hosting, email delivery and analytics platforms — may store or process data in other countries, most commonly the United States.
Where personal information is disclosed overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, including through contractual protections. By using HireJuno, you acknowledge that this limited overseas processing may occur.
12. Access, correction and deletion
It's your information. You can:
- Access it. Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you. We'll respond within 30 days; for straightforward requests there's no charge.
- Correct it. Update most details yourself in the app or your account, or ask us to correct anything inaccurate, out of date or incomplete.
- Delete it. Ask us to close your account and delete your personal information. We'll delete or de-identify everything we can, keeping only what the law requires us to retain (see section 13) — and that retained data is locked away from everyday use.
- Withdraw consent. Where we rely on your consent (like marketing), you can withdraw it at any time without affecting your bookings.
To make any of these requests, email hello@hirejuno.com or use hirejuno.com/contact. We'll verify your identity first — we won't hand your data to someone pretending to be you. If we ever have to refuse a request (for example, a legal retention obligation), we'll explain why in writing.
13. How long we keep information
- Booking and transaction records — kept for 7 years after the transaction, as required by Australian tax and accounting law.
- Account information — kept while your account is active, then deleted or de-identified within a reasonable period after closure.
- Support communications and claims — kept for as long as needed to resolve the matter and for any applicable limitation periods.
- Marketing preferences — opt-out records are kept indefinitely so we don't accidentally contact you again.
- Booking notes and access details — shared with professionals only for the life of the job; professionals must delete them once the job is complete.
When information is no longer needed, we destroy or de-identify it securely.
14. Making a privacy complaint
If you believe we've mishandled your personal information or breached the Australian Privacy Principles:
- Step 1 — Contact us. Email hello@hirejuno.com with "Privacy complaint" in the subject, or use our contact page. Include what happened and how you'd like it resolved.
- Step 2 — We investigate. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and aim to give you a full written response within 30 days.
- Step 3 — Escalate if needed. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) — online at oaic.gov.au, by phone on 1300 363 992, or by mail to GPO Box 5288, Sydney NSW 2001.
15. Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy as our services and the law evolve. The current version always lives at hirejuno.com/privacy with its "last updated" date at the top. For significant changes — like sharing data with a new category of recipient — we'll give you notice by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
16. Contact us
Questions, requests or worries about your privacy — we're easy to reach, and a human reads every message.
